South Philly Sausage Fest – The 8th annual event takes place from noon to 7 p.m. at Broad Street and West Passyunk Avenue. Afternoon of food, local beers, live music, craft artists and flea marketers. This event is kid friendly and dog-on-a-leash friendly.

‘Me and You and a bear named Baloo’ – At the Sawubona Creativity Project, 1935 E. Passyunk Ave. South Philly resident Anthony DoFlorio makes his stage debut in one man’s story about how an animated character resonated with a shy boy who was captivated by a lovable bear. He served as a surrogate friend in a hostile world. The artists will retell the story of the Jungle Book with songs and stories for kids of all ages. Whiskey Bonanza – From 7-10 p.m. at the Twisted Tail, 509 S. 2nd St., a whiskey tasting event featuring more than 100 whiskeys, a cocktail competition with top Philly bartenders, a signature southern pig roast, live music and more whiskey-themed festivities. VIP hour from 6-7 p.m.

Getting Creative with Jennifer Blaine – At 8 p.m. at Mister John’s Music, 761 S. 8th St., Philly Fringe favorite Jennifer Blaine, known for her characters and transformational solo shows, is on a mission to boost your creativity. Colonial 54: An Immersive Disco Experience – At 9 p.m., at the Colonial Theatre, 227 Bridge St. in Phoenixville. A return to the glitz and glamour of 1970s New York. Drink Beer Day – Two sessions (1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.) at the 23rd Street Armory, 22 S. 23rd St. The event focuses on celebrating Pennsylvania-based beer companies and beyond. Goers will have their pick of one of two curated sessions featuring pours from PA’s top breweries, while sharing some of the best beers, beverages, eats and more. Kountry Wayne – At 8 p.m. at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, comedian and social media star Kountry Wayne is bringing his “King of Hearts” tour to the Live! Event Center. Wayne’s original sketches draw viewers daily across Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube and feature cameos from celebrities like Ludacris, Mike Epps, Charlamagne the God and Lamar Odom. Strange Woodcraft – From 5-8 p.m. at the Museum for Art and Wood, 141 N. 3rd St. On display in the gallery of the Museum’s Fleur and Charles Bresler Research Library, this exhibition includes work from 16 artists, held in the museum’s permanent collection, whose sculptural forms probe at the weird, eerie — and perhaps even grotesque — registers of wood. In doing so, Strange Woodcraft encourages visitors to consider the presence of more-than-human forces that may linger in crafted objects, just beyond common perception. Cost is free with a $5 suggested donation.

October 5

History on the Street – From noon to 4 p.m. at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, 1300 Locust St., cultural organizations will be onsite, hosting activities, tours and demonstrations that will share American history in exciting ways. Enjoy music, vendors, food and a street-party vibe. During the outdoor event, guests are also welcome inside to view HSP’s current exhibit, HSP 200 + Taller 50: Uncovering and Preserving Puerto Rican Stories, co-curated with Taller Puertorriqueño and on display until Oct. 11, examining the development of the Puerto Rican community in Philadelphia. Free entry, pay-as-you-go vendors.

Confabulation: A World Premiere Production – At 7 p.m at the Arden Theatre Company, 62 N. 2nd St. A gas station attendant joins a “past life regression” support group to take control of her life. But as she looks inward, her group-mates transform into the people and feelings that have hurt her the most, unraveling a thread of new relationships that force her to confront her deepest darkness. Strangers become sisters become lovers become straight men who become gay men who become straight men again — all under the group leader’s promise for ultimate enlightenment. Confabulation intertwines past lives and future fears into a startling current tale of finding yourself amidst the chaos. Indigenous Peoples Weekend at MOAR – Celebrate Native American history and culture during the Museum of the American Revolution’s annual Indigenous Peoples Weekend celebration. It will include traditional Native American dance performances, hands-on demonstrations and other special activities for all ages. The Museum will be joined by members of the Delaware Tribe of Indians, who will perform traditional Lenape social dances on the Museum’s outdoor plaza. Dance performances will take place daily at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and are free and open to the public.

October 13

Turkey Day Tailgate – From 8 a.m. to noon at Lincoln Financial Field, Philly PR Girl is hosting the ninth annual Turkey Day Tailgate benefiting North Light Community Center before the Eagles take on the Cleveland Browns. Ticket-holders will gather at a designated spot in the Lincoln Financial Field parking lots (exact location to be announced closer to the event date) to enjoy a Thanksgiving-themed menu, crafted seasonal cocktails, tailgating games, face painting, raffle prizes and signed memorabilia, a photo booth and more. Guests are encouraged to bring a canned good to support the charitable efforts of Turkey Day Tailgate. Tickets can be purchased at TDT24.eventbrite.com. General admission tickets are $68. The event is 21-plus unless accompanied by an adult.

Dr. Lindsay M. Chervinsky – From 6:30-8 p.m. at the Museum of the American Revolution, author and historian of presidential history and legacies Dr. Lindsay M. Chervinsky visits for the first installment of the 2024-25 Read the Revolution Speaker Series. Chervinsky, who is executive director of the George Washington Presidential Library at Mount Vernon, will give a hybrid lecture and discussion on presidential history inspired by her latest book Making the Presidency: John Adams and the Precedents That Forged the Republic

Congressman Evans pop-up office hours – From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the office of Congressman Dwight Evans will hold pop-up office hours at the office of state Rep. Elizabeth Fiedler, 2400 S. 9th St., to help constituents with federal services. Evans’ staff can also help with federal services and concerns at his office at 1310 Point Breeze Ave. During Evans’ first seven years in Congress, his office has helped to return to or save more than $41 million for Philadelphians from federal agencies such as the IRS, Social Security Administration and Department of Veterans Affairs. Evans’ offices also help constituents with other federal concerns such as U.S. Postal Service issues and immigration or passport issues.

Billy Gardell – At 8 p.m. at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, stand-up comedian and actor Billy Gardell will bring an evening of comedy and storytelling to the Live! Event Center. Gardell is known for his starring role as Bob Wheeler in the CBS sitcom Bob Hearts Abishola and Officer Mike Biggs in the long-running CBS hit Mike & Molly.
