Carpenters’ Hall Presents a Dialogue with Philadelphia Faith Leaders – From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at American Philosophical Society, Benjamin Franklin Hall, 427 Chestnut St., the First Continental Congress in fall 1774 set the stage for American independence with 56 delegates from 12 colonies. An invocation by Christ Church rector Rev. Jacob Duche, who established a tradition of congressional prayer. Now, 250 years later, leaders from Philadelphia’s historic congregations will explore the role of faith in the Revolution and its place in contemporary American democracy. Amy Jane Cohen – Educator, historian and author of “Black History in the Philadelphia Landscape” will talk about her book at 7 p.m. at the Historic Gloria Dei (Old Swedes’) Church, 916 S. Swanson St. After a general overview of her book, she’ll focus on the fascinating history of the All Wars Memorial to Colored Soldiers and Sailors, a 1934 monument that sits at 20th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, across from the Franklin Institute. Eddie Griffin – At 8 p.m. at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, comedian-turned-actor Eddie Griffin will bring his stand-up comedy tour to the Live! Event Center. Fall for the Arts Festival – From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the 40th annual Fall for the Arts Festival, transforming Germantown Avenue into an outdoor arts and crafts marketplace. This family-friendly event features live demonstrations, children’s activities, live music, culinary delights and boutique shopping. The 8000 to 8600 blocks of Germantown Avenue will be closed to traffic. The festival showcases over 200 artists and vendors, offering a diverse array of art, including oils, watercolors, photography, sculpture, pottery, wood crafts, jewelry and accessories.

September 17 – 

Paul Revere’s Philadelphia Connection – from 5:30 to 7 p.m., to mark the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s ride to the First Continental Congress, Carpenters’ Hall is teaming up with the Paul Revere House in Boston, and the First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry to shed light on this forgotten chapter of American history. Witness Revere’s arrival by horse and hear from Revere himself and his fellow Bostonian John Adams, who was a delegate to the First Continental Congress, about the crucial news Revere delivered on his Philadelphia rides and how it impacted the course of the American Revolution. Whiskey Bonanza – From 7-10 p.m. at the Twisted Tail, 509 S. 2nd St., a one-of-a-kind whiskey tasting event featuring more than 100 whiskeys, a riveting cocktail competition with top Philly bartenders, a signature southern pig roast, live music and more whiskey-themed festivities. Drink Beer Day – Two sessions (1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.) at the 23rd Street Armory, 22 S. 23rd St. The event focuses on celebrating Pennsylvania-based beer companies and beyond. Goers will have their pick of one of two curated sessions featuring pours from PA’s top breweries, while sharing some of the best beers, beverages, eats and more. Kountry Wayne – At 8 p.m. at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, comedian and social media star Kountry Wayne is bringing his “King of Hearts” tour to the Live! Event Center. Wayne’s original sketches draw viewers daily across Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube and feature cameos from celebrities like Ludacris, Mike Epps, Charlamagne the God and Lamar Odom. Confabulation: A World Premiere Production – At 7 p.m at the Arden Theatre Company, 62 N. 2nd St. A gas station attendant joins a “past life regression” support group to take control of her life. But as she looks inward, her group-mates transform into the people and feelings that have hurt her the most, unraveling a thread of new relationships that force her to confront her deepest darkness. Strangers become sisters become lovers become straight men who become gay men who become straight men again—all under the group leader’s promise for ultimate enlightenment. Confabulation intertwines past lives and future fears into a startling current tale of finding yourself amidst the chaos. Turkey Day Tailgate – From 8 a.m. to noon at Lincoln Financial Field, Philly PR Girl is hosting the ninth annual Turkey Day Tailgate benefiting North Light Community Center before the Eagles take on the Cleveland Browns. Ticket-holders will gather at a designated spot in the Lincoln Financial Field parking lots (exact location to be announced closer to the event date) to enjoy a Thanksgiving-themed menu, crafted seasonal cocktails, tailgating games, face painting, raffle prizes and signed memorabilia, a photo booth and more. Ms. Pat – The Emmy-nominated comedian, actress, author and host will bring her unforgiving and darkly hilarious “Ms. Pat: The Hot & Flashy Tour” to the Live! Event Center at Live! Ms. Pat is best known for “The Ms. Pat Show,” her Netflix standup comedy special “Ms. Pat: Y’all Wanna Hear Something Crazy?” and multiple BET shows based on her real-life story of an inner-city drug dealer turned suburban mom.
